On the 8th of November 2019, our beloved Chhote Guruji, Pandit Ramakant Gundecha, was suddenly taken from us in a stroke of what we can only understand to be the cosmos’ grand design. This void in the world of classical music and in the life of every shishya across the world who ever had the good fortune of seeking the mysteries of sound through him, will be ever irreparable.

We, at Dhrupad Sansthan, are heart-broken but resolve to never be broken in spirit. Secure under the wisdom and guidance of Gurus Pt. Umakant Gundecha and Pt. Akhilesh Gundecha, we are striding ahead to carry forward the vision of our Chhote Guruji, whose genius, generosity, love and light will forever remain in our midst.

The Gundecha Brothers jugalbandi lives on through Pt. Ramakant Gundecha’s son, Anant Ramakant Gundecha, who now sings the jugalbandi alongside Pt. Umakant Gundecha.
